Ephesians 6:17-19 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, 19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,
Even though we are told to pray in the spirit at all times, just before we are told to take hold of the word of God.
This shows us that we still can get a lot of understanding on how to pray for a situation from God’s word. We should never just blindly pray saying God it’s all on you.
I am all for you praying in the spirit, in His leading.
The word tells us we pray out his will when we do. However, when we remove all responsibility and take on the idea that we have no responsibility we are not playing our part.
God does not want puppets, but co-laborers. We are to take an active role with Him.
He does not want us to be stagnant or uninvolved. We need to stir ourselves up. We must get in the Word Of God and ask for His understanding. That is why Paul says to ask that he be given the understanding of the mystery of the gospel. We cannot fully understand God’s word without His input.
- What area of your life have you placed in auto pilot?
- What have you allowed to grow stagnant expecting God to do all the work?
- In what area do you need to ask God to give you deeper understanding in His word?
