2 Corinthians 7:4 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

4 Great is my confidence in you; great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort; I am overflowing with joy in all our affliction.

The power and ability of God to so empower us with His spirit it is incredible! It is a force that is unmatched. It brings joy, comfort, and peace even in the face of affliction and turmoil. Why is it that we do not allow Him to be the one that fills us? Why do we tend to think on and allow the situations of life to be the focal point?

The apostles looked at affliction as a thing to rejoice over.

The trials of life were just another exercise in the plan of growth. They did not allow it to become a focal point to the point of paralysis. Instead they allowed the peace of the Holy Spirit to fill them with joy that led to comfort.

Their confidence was not in themselves but in the one that brings peace and comfort.

Because of this perspective change they were able to have confidence in the trials and tribulations.

Consider this:

  • What areas of your life do you need to change your perspective?
  • What areas are you focusing on the situation instead of the one that brings the answer?
  • How can you change your focus and rejoice in your situation?
